As news broke today of McConnell's proposal to basically give Congressional authority to the raise the national debt ceiling to the Executive branch, it made me wonder what he has been smoking? Has McConnell been visiting medicinal marijuana dispensaries in our beloved State of California?

Conservatives and Tea Party Luddites attacked the Kentucky Republican calling him "spineless." As a liberal I can't help but wonder if McConnell sees the writing on the wall and realizes he and his fellow deficit hawks have painted themselves into a corner.

Either way, his proposal is one of the nuttiest ones made thus far, which by default makes it one of the most likely to have staying power.
