Elk Grove Target to Sell Hard Liquor

9:24 AM - No comments

The Elk Grove Target store will now sell hard liquor.
The Elk Grove City Council gave the Target store located on Laguna Blvd. permission to sell hard liquor during tonight's regular meeting

By a 4-1 the vote the council granted the Minnesota-based mass merchandiser the privilege to sell hard liquor in addition to their existing sale of beer and wine. During the presentation on the matter by city staff, it was noted that the area has been designated as a high crime area and there is an over-concentration of liquor licenses in the vicinity.

The sole dissenting vote on the matter was Council Member Gary Davis. After the meeting Davis noted that the Save Mart Grocery store located next door to Target was already selling liquor and felt that an over abundance of liquor retailers can have a detrimental effect on the community.
