During last week's Elk Grove City Council Meeting a city taxpayer was asking questions regarding the city's proposed $147 million budget for 2012. During the course of the constituents allotted three minutes, Council Member Pat Hume interrupted the constituent in a condescending manner.
Not taking it sitting down, the constituent said he found Hume's behavior offensive. We agree.
Hume needs to remember it is the taxpayers right to ask questions of our elected and appointed officials and they serve at our pleasure, not the other way around. If Hume does have aspirations to be Elk Grove's first directly elected mayor as widely rumored, he needs to rein in his all to obvious disdain for taxpayers.
